Boyd at the Museum

New exhibit at the Chicago Art Institute. I wouldn't have known without Foolish Sage pointing me to it.

He's Done It!

Sam Boyd figured out [in the midst of his studies] how to triple stamp a double stamp. Don't ask him how he did it. Unless you want to find out how he did it.

Boyd is Back

The most recent sighting was in the corner of one of the libraries on his campus. He told a friend he was going to go brush up on a little Luwian lingo. In reality, he was just studying a little Hittite lingo. Slacker. Oh, and he was listening to Bryan Adams' "Waking up the Neighbors" on his iPod.

Let the Pictures Speak

I'm not saying the guy on top - Julio Evangelista (or whatever his name is) - isn't cool. That's beside the point. I'm just saying that taking the title away from Boyd is like taking candy from Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. It's just not a smart move. It's irresponsible. It's ... dare I say it ... inauthentic. So let's re-embrace truth and authenticity and leave Sam Boyd alone with his title. Don't steal it from him and give it to flowy hair man. If Sam Boyd can hold a bag of day old watermelon in a gallon-size freezer bag and look that cool, then there's no reason to continue talking about this conversation I'm having with myself. Oh, and not only does Sam own cowboy boots, he owns fly-fishing equipment - and uses it. I must be going ...

Sam Boyd in 30 Years

Macguyver?

As we were leaving our visit with Sam Boyd yesterday my two-year-old son, Sam (named after Sam Boyd) asked us “That Macguyver?” We said, “No, son. That’s Indiana Jones.”

Here's a photo of Sam Boyd. He graduated Extra Summa Magna Cum Louder than anyone else. Now he's off to the U. of Chicago to pursue a windier winter

Sam's Cottage in Chicago

It's being renovated right now. He didn't like the marble floors so he's having hardwood floors put in. The best part about it is that it is located within two blocks of campus. The wine cellar is nice, too.

Chi-town got it goin' on ...

Rumor has it that Sam Boyd might move to the Chicagoland area. That's where I live. If he does, he can tell people he lives near Kevin Vanhoozer. That would make his Westminster friends jealous, because they are geeks. I, on the other hand, would be jealous if someone were to move to Philly, because then they would be near Paul David Tripp and his fabulous mustache. And I am a geek. That reminds me of a joke. How do you tell the difference between a TEDS student and a Westminster student? Actually, I can't think of a joke, but I suppose I could say something about D.A. Carson in the joke (who I never took a class with - but I admire him for shaving his mustache) ... anyhow, I better go to bed. Please vote for Sam to move to Chicago. If this post gets at least one comment, then let's say he has to move to Chicago.

Just Talked to Phil Keaggy

I just got off the phone with Phil Keaggy. We had an interesting conversation:

Phil: Hey, Burly! What's goin' down big man?

Burly: Nothing much. Just have a quick question for you.

Phil: Yo, what's up?

Burly: What's it like being the greatest guitar player who ever lived.

Phil: Gosh, I don't know. You'll have to ask Sam Boyd that question.

Burly: That's cool. See you later.

Phil: Okay, dude. Don't be a stranger.

Other than Tom Hanks ...

Which movie star do you think would best represent Sam Boyd in the movie version of "The Life of Sam Boyd"? It's your time to vote. My vote is for Joseph Fiennes. That's probably because he played Martin Luther in "Luther," and Sam reminds me of Luther.
